The Real Story Behind Eco Beach City: A Journey of Purpose, Resilience, and Belonging
Ours began with a feeling. A moment of stillness that cracked something open inside of us. It was 2022. We had spent years chasing opportunities—startups, cities, screen time, deadlines. We had achieved things that looked impressive on paper, but something was missing.
We didn’t travel to Indonesia by chance—it was a return to a place we already called home in our hearts. For over ten years, we had been living in Indonesia. Exploring its islands, falling in love with its rhythms, its kindness, its people. This country had already taught us so much about patience, humility, balance, and joy. The warmth of its communities, the generosity of its spirit, and the deep connection to nature had shaped how we saw the world—and how we wanted to live in it.
Indonesia had already changed our lives. Its culture, its kindness, its natural beauty—this was not a place we discovered for the first time, but a place that had been slowly claiming a piece of our hearts for over a decade.
Still, we had never seen anything quite like what we found on that island.
And then we landed on an island that time had almost forgotten.
Sumba.
No traffic. No towers. No noise. Just wind through the palms, the hiss of waves folding over the shore, and silence—the kind of silence that speaks. The kind that reminds you that you are alive. The kind of place that doesn’t ask for attention, but commands it. A place that felt sacred, untouched, patient.
We weren’t there to scout land. We weren’t developers. We didn’t have renderings or spreadsheets. We were just people—tired of hustle, hungry for something rooted. We were travelers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and partners in life. And for the first time in a long time, we felt grounded.
We spent days walking the coastline barefoot, laughing about dreams, pausing at the sunsets, swimming in water so clear it looked like light itself. We didn’t speak much those days. We didn’t need to. The island was speaking for us.
The idea didn’t come like a thunderbolt. It came like a whisper.
What if we created something here?
Not a resort. Not a concrete machine. But a sanctuary. A community. A place that belongs to people—not corporations. A place where you could own something real. Come back to it. Share it. Pass it on.
We imagined a village—not one trapped in time, but one reimagined for the future. With solar power and fiber internet. With paddle courts and coworking domes. With jungle trails and stargazing decks. With spaces designed not just for sleeping—but for connecting. For living.
A place where parents could work remotely while their kids ran barefoot through the grass. Where digital nomads could find deep focus in the morning and bonfires at night. Where retirees could plant gardens. Where strangers could become neighbors—and maybe even family.
That’s what we saw. That’s what we felt.
We called it Eco Beach City.
And we started with nothing but that dream.
A Wild Idea, A Global Tribe
We didn’t go to banks. We didn’t pitch to VCs. We shared the idea with friends, then friends of friends, and then strangers on the internet who believed in something bigger. People like you—entrepreneurs, digital nomads, doctors, artists, parents—people tired of overpriced cities and cold neighborhoods, people who wanted roots somewhere sunny, warm, and meaningful.
And to our surprise… they came. One by one. Then dozens. Then hundreds.
Over 600 people invested in Eco Beach City in the first 12 months. Most of them had never met us in person. They believed in the same dream: that we could build a new kind of place. A paradise with purpose.
Every plot we sold wasn’t just land—it was a vote of confidence. A step forward.
We were growing fast, but responsibly. We shared plans, renderings, contracts. We did due diligence. We partnered with trusted locals, environmental experts, legal advisors. And the momentum was real.
Until it wasn’t.
The Storm We Didn’t See Coming
Not all who joined the dream, stayed aligned with it. As the project expanded, we made a mistake—a well-intentioned one, but a mistake nonetheless. In the early days, we offered the possibility to invest in land only, with the option to fund construction later. We believed this flexibility would make it easier for more people to join the movement.
But what we hadn’t fully realized at the beginning was just how essential shared commitment would be to the success of Eco Beach City.
In the early days, many investors—understandably cautious with a new and unconventional project—chose to secure only their plot, postponing the construction phase. It was a choice made from prudence, not from ill intent. But the unintended consequence was that dozens of planned constructions remained unbuilt. This naturally impacted the flow of funding, energy, and development across the community.
Some of those who initially held back eventually voiced their concerns publicly. A couple of articles appeared, framing the project in a negative light. While we respect every opinion, these pieces didn’t tell the full story. They overlooked the contractual transparency, the legal structure, the milestones we had already achieved, and the hundreds of investors who remained confident and supportive.
It did slow us down. Questions arose. And even our most optimistic team members felt the weight of that moment.
But here’s the truth:
We didn’t give up. We listened. We learned. And we evolved.
That’s why today, we offer a clearer, stronger path forward: plot and construction together—one commitment, one community, one shared vision.
And it’s working.
This model has attracted more aligned investors, accelerated development, and built a deeper sense of collective trust and momentum.
And now… we build.
From Dreamers to Builders
The hard months became our foundation. We learned. We reorganized. We started weekly internal updates. We published a live Telegram group, shared drone footage, masterplans, legal FAQs, and contracts. We addressed every question. We spoke less—and built more.
Some decided to step back. But many others stayed — the ones who truly believed. The long-term thinkers. The community-minded.
And then, a miracle of momentum: in early 2025, several high-profile investors joined the project. Not because we were loud—but because they saw the truth. The land. The contracts. The community. The team. The values. The potential.
They brought fresh capital, yes. But more importantly, they brought faith. And with that, we began our next chapter.
Summer 2025: The Turning Point
We are proud to say that during July, August, and September 2025, we will deliver what was promised:
🌴 Landscaped common areas,
🏖️ Beachfront lounging decks,
🛖 A bamboo coworking space.
🎾 Paddle & tennis courts,
- Calistenia Gym (one of the gym spaces we will have),
Restaurant zone ready to host families, digital nomads, and events,
- And more!

Every day of construction adds value to the project. Every palm tree planted. Every stone laid. Every villa completed.
But this is not just real estate.
This is emotional infrastructure. A place to build a life. A legacy. A retreat. A story to tell.
A Vision Bigger Than Buildings
Eco Beach City is about belonging. It’s about remembering what made life joyful before the world got too fast, too loud, too fake. It’s about bringing people together who care more about sunsets and shared meals than traffic and timelines.
It’s about knowing your neighbors—not just their names, but their dreams.
Here, we’re building:
🏡 Villas you can own, rent, or visit seasonally
🌐 A remote-friendly village with real infrastructure
🌿 A community where wellness, entrepreneurship, and family life go hand in hand
And we’ve kept the pricing human. Where else in the world can you be part of a beachfront development from under €10,000?
Nowhere. That’s the answer.
